Shaw designed and constructed a 5,900ML earth-fill dam near Smithton for Tasmanian Irrigation. Key features included a large-scale concrete spillway and 180m outlet pipe. Despite its remote location, unsuitable ground conditions, and tight timelines, Shaw completed the project within a single construction season, using onsite concrete batching and a 7-day roster to ensure the dam was ready for the summer irrigation season.
