Lead the delivery of Tasmania’s most significant civil infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

As Project Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of multiple concurrent projects across Shaw’s diverse portfolio. Acting as the central coordination point for project delivery, you will ensure projects are appropriately resourced, commercially managed and delivered safely, on time, in full and to the highest standard.

Working directly with the CEO and senior leadership team, you will provide leadership across project management, resource planning, commercial performance and operational excellence while supporting the continued growth and sustainability of the business.

This is more than a traditional senior leadership project management role, this role is delivering Tasmania’s future. It is a strategic leadership position that will have a direct influence on business performance, project outcomes, workforce capability and the future direction of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, sequencing and delivery of multiple civil construction projects across Tasmania.
  • Provide strong commercial oversight to ensure projects are delivered profitably and sustainably.
  • Drive excellence in safety, quality, environmental and compliance performance in partnership with the People and Systems Manager.
  • Lead and mentor Project Managers, the Survey Coordinator and broader project teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and government stakeholders.
  • Support and influence project resource allocation, utilisation and workforce planning.
  • Champion continuous improvement of project management systems, scheduling processes and delivery frameworks.
  • Provide regular strategic reporting to the CEO on project performance, risks, opportunities and utilisation.

About You

You are a proven leader with extensive experience delivering complex civil construction or infrastructure projects and have a demonstrated ability to lead people, manage competing priorities and achieve commercial outcomes.

Essential Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Construction White Card.
  • Current Australian Driver Licence.

Experience & Capability

  • Significant leadership experience within civil construction, infrastructure, resources or major projects.
  • Proven success managing multiple concurrent projects across geographically dispersed locations.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including contract administration, risk management and project financial performance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project scheduling, resource allocation and utilisation management.
  • Experience implementing and improving project management systems and processes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and leadership skills.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with the ability to adapt in dynamic operating environments.

What You’ll Do

What You Will Bring

  • 5–10 years’ experience in project management within civil construction, water, irrigation, mining or infrastructure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with proven project management experience, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, WHS, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Strong track record in leading teams and subcontractors to deliver projects successfully.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience working within, or closely alongside, Building Tasmania (formerly, Department of State Growth Tasmania) or a similar government infrastructure agency, overseeing major state initiatives spanning transport infrastructure, industry development and tourism.
  • A track record managing multi-million dollar capital delivery programs, driving regional industry strategies (e.g. advanced manufacturing) or coordinating cross government policy reforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive system reform initiatives and deliver project outcomes end-to-end within a dynamic government environment.
  • Project Management or leadership qualifications (for example, Diploma of Project Management, Certificate IV in Leadership & Management).

Project Engineer

The Opportunity

Shaw Contracting is embarking on an exciting phase of expansion in Tasmania’s North West, and we are looking for Project Engineers to join our team.

Based primarily in the North West region, you will play a key role in delivering high impact civil infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced Project Managers and Supervisors. This position offers genuine exposure to diverse project types, hands on technical leadership, and the opportunity to make your mark on some of Tasmania’s most significant infrastructure developments.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical and engineering support across a variety of civil projects.
  • Interpret drawings, standards and specifications to guide site execution.
  • Prepare and monitor ITPs, quality records and site documentation.
  • Assist Project Managers with planning, budgets, schedules and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and quality management systems.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors and consultants on technical matters.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in project delivery.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 2–4 years’ post graduate engineering experience in civil construction.
  • Demonstrated capability in road, dam, irrigation, mining or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to interpret drawings and manage site documentation.
  • Working knowledge of WHS requirements and compliance processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and exposure to project management software.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence (essential).

Highly Regarded

  • Professional registration with Engineers Australia, First Aid/CPR, and Tasmanian project exposure.
  • Exposure to Building Tasmania (formerly, Department of State GrowthTasmania) or other government funded capital projects spanning transport infrastructure, industry development or tourism.
