Experienced Civil Plant Operators

Shaw Contracting (Aust) Pty Ltd, is a leading provider of Civil Construction, Building and Mining Contracting services. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint Experienced Civil Plant Operators, including excavator operators, dozer, roller and dump truck operators.

Future projects will require you to work on the West Coast of Tasmania – allowances will be paid for these projects.

If you have a detailed history in civil construction and meet the following criteria, we could offer you your next employment opportunity.

To be successful in the position you should be proficient in all the following areas:

  • Self-motivated and be safety minded.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • White Card
  • Hold relevant competencies & valid licences, particularly excavator operations
  • Demonstrated experience in the safe operation/maintenance of relevant plant and equipment (e.g., excavators, trucks, loaders etc.)
  • Good attitude and the ability to work unsupervised and enjoy working as part of a valued team.
  • A demonstrated commitment to work health & safety, quality and environmental standards in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and site project management plans.

A key focus of the Manager, Human Resources role is to partner with a wide range of internal stakeholders to consult and provide HR strategies and solutions that align with the Shaw vision and values while enhancing culture and business performance.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Business Strategy and Leadership

  • Lead the development, implementation and regular review of HR Strategies and culture initiatives, to maximise employee engagement.
  • Partner with Senior Management, Managers and Supervisors in identifying business needs and solutions for organisation and functional structure, succession planning and employee development.
  • Lead the delivery of Shaw's strategic vision and direction for human resources, and information technology.


People Management and Development

  • Support management in the performance review and development of employees to maximise their potential
  • Oversee the training and development of Shaw employees to support career progression and development, workforce and succession planning strategies
  • Lead employee value proposition initiatives to support talent acquisition and attraction, employee engagement and retention
  • Manage the industrial and employee relations functions
  • Develop and present options and solutions for HR issues and challenges, influencing and negotiating outcomes across the business.
  • Compliance of Federal and State workplace, safety, and workers compensation laws and regulations
  • Compliance of WorkCover and RTW processes
  • Compliance and development and maintenance of employee files, position descriptions and HR records
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of HR functions such as IR/ER, EEO, legislative compliance.

You will have a strong knowledge of employment law, industrial relations, workforce planning, and HR best practice. This role will require the successful candidate to have capacity to operate at both a strategic and operational level, with business/commercial acumen and an appreciation and understanding of the complexities of the drivers of such a diverse business. You will have expertise in effectively translating strategy into day to day operational activities.

Who are you?

Relevant qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline

Extensive HR experience coupled with a proven background in a HR leadership and management role.

Quality Verifier

Reporting to the Systems Manager, you will be responsible for assisting project leaders with the implementation of the Project Quality Plan and the development of quality related deliverables. You will be responsible for ensuring that the end product meets the minimum quality standards.

About the role:
• Assist project leaders with the implementation of the Project Quality Plan and the development of quality related deliverables.
• Provide technical advice/support to the project leaders on quality related matters.
• Assist project leaders with preparing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), inspection checklists and work packs to ensure quality requirements are captured.
• Participate at regular construction / quality team meetings.
• Assist the project leaders by reviewing and verifying compliance of QA records and deliverables.
• Verify that subcontractor/supplier documents conform to project specification/standard requirements.
• Ensure Corrective Actions and Non-conformances are registered upon identification.
• Actively monitor the project corrective actions and non-conformance registers to ensure timely close out and measure the effectiveness to preventive actions.
• Investigate all non-conformances with efficiency and ensure debriefs are conducted and corrective actions are closed out.
• Maintain up-to-date register of calibration certificates and ensure inspection, measuring and test equipment is within calibration or removed from use.
• Provide data as required to the Systems Manager for the monthly Quality Reports by the due date.
• Observe safe systems of work relevant to your work area and report potential hazards or near misses

Who are you?
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant tertiary qualification
• More than 8 years’ Construction/Engineering experience
• Technical knowledge to interpret drawings, specifications and quality records
• Previous experience with Project Document Management Systems
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
• Internal Auditor Qualification (desirable)
• Lead Auditor Qualification (desirable)
• Ability to travel to and work in all areas of Tasmania.

About the Role:
Lead and manage the development and operation of Shaw business systems across various functional areas, including the provision of innovative technical and business solutions, to ensure a high standard of system performance, functionality and compliance to support the achievement of organisational objectives.

The role will be based in our Launceston office, on occasion there will be a requirement to work onsite to support operational commitments.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the role will include.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand needs and gaps, create standardised processes, and provide timely support for escalation of any issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement, quality service delivery and ensure safe and efficient practices.
  • Implement and manage an effective and relevant compliance program for third party certification and accreditation.
  • Evaluate frameworks to effectively manage risk, compliance, business continuity, and operational arrangements.
  • Coordinate compliance activities and ensure obligations are understood and monitored across the business, including environmental, safety, management systems, certification and accreditation.
  • Administering Shaw’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework including facilitation of risk workshops, risk assurance reviews, risk reporting, identification and implementation of risk controls as required
  • Implement and manage an effective and relevant compliance program for third party certification and accreditation.
  • Advise management on Shaw’s compliance with laws, regulations, accepted business practices and internal standards.

Who are you?

At least 5 years or proven experience delivering ICT projects a corporate, civil engineering background

Bachelor's degree or higher in Project Management, computer science, engineering, business or related field.

  • A strategic thinker with a strong technical background.
  • Proven experience in managing Procore, desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
  • A commitment to operational excellence and safety.
